Get to know me…
I’m a Brighton-based writer, living with my partner, two wild children under five and a cockapoo named Scout.
I’ve been freelancing since 2017, and I absolutely love it. It gives me the work-life balance I need - and the space to focus on my creative film projects in between client work.
I started out in television in 2010 in Hong Kong and then London, but quickly realised my heart was in creative development - writing the stories, not just producing them. So I hot-footed it to UEA and completed a Master’s in Creative Writing.
Since then, I’ve been working closely with creative communities to think, write and design across a brilliant range of products and platforms. I’m especially keen on charities and the arts. And I’m always up for trying something new.
From the late-night push-and-pull with designers, to unravelling spirited briefs from creative directors - what I really live for is the one-on-one time with other creatives where we unpick and re-stitch ideas together. I’ll always prioritise nurturing those relationships as a project unfurls.
I used to be very process-driven (and there's a time and place for that), but I’ve come to value a slower, more intuitive pace - one that lets ideas simmer and rise when the timing is right. I really get behind Graham Wallas’ 1926 model of the creative process:
Preparation → Incubation → Illumination → Verification
I like - and need - to get to the heart of the matter. To understand something fully before I write with conviction and turn readers’ heads.
Away from the writing desk, I’m all about the natural world and my local community.
I need solitary time - growing veg, hanging out in wildish places, casting the odd wellbeing spell - but I’m also rooted in the idea of building something meaningful, together with my community.
So if you think we’d vibe, let’s chat.
The more we know about each other, the better the work will be - guided by trust, curiosity and good instincts.
